Organization |
Scope of Activities |
CERT of The Villages |
The
radio team which used only a couple of radio team members during
and after the Hurricane Irma. They did use about 80 regular
members for various duties associated with the hurricane and do
many military and square events throughout the year. After a
RACES request, two members will be helping RACES if there is a
hurricane. |
TVARC - ECT |
During the last hurricane, Wildwood was
without power for 9 days, new relationship scope unknown.
Some events |
RACES |
Their limited scope is to serve the EOC and
storm shelters during the storm. |
HCARC |
This has been a social organization that
is starting to add Emcomm. Sumter Fair, Bushnell Christmas
Parade |
Sumter SKYWARN |
Weekly SKYWARN Nets and Storm Nets with
reporting to the National Weather Service. |
Sumter ARES |
The primary scope is serving the
hospital during and after the storm or during surges or power
outages plus events during the year (i.e Hearts for Our Hospital
Bike Ride, hospital exercises, etc.). This includes new
hospitals being planned.
ARES is also identified as a
possible backup for RACES and there are MOU’s with the
Salvation Army and American Red Cross for
communications needs after “the Storm”.
The surrounding counties
have county ARES groups, and we are working on a 9-hospital
communications matrix with Lake, Marion, and Citrus.
Some ARES members also belong to either
CERT, ECT, or RACES and use ARES to do things that the others
are not doing. |
